Would you like to know God,
enter His Kingdom and have eternal life?

Creation tells us that God exists and the Bible tells us that He can be known when you seek Him with all your heart (Psalm 19:1; Jeremiah 29:13). So what is God like? God tells us that He is Light and that there is no darkness in Him at all (1 John 1:5).

That is tremendous news. Yet the spiritual and moral darkness in our world and in ourselves keeps us from knowing Him. The Bible calls this moral darkness ‘sin’ and it is the power and presence of this sin that separates us from God (Ephesians 5:11; Isaiah 59:2). In fact we often prefer to live in the shadows of the darkness rather than come to His Light (John 3:19-20). However, God also tells us that He is Love and that He wants to rescue us from our own darkness, if we are willing (1 John 4:8; Isaiah 1:18).

God showed His love for us when He sent His only Son into the world to remove our sins from us and to give us eternal life (John 3:16). You see, real love isn’t our love for God, but His love for us (1 John 4:19). What God did through His Son Jesus was very costly. God actually sent His Son to be the blood sacrifice by which all our bad thoughts, words and deeds (our sins) are fully and completely forgiven (Hebrews 9:26b{/bible}). It cost God the most precious thing He had, His only and dearly loved Son, to save us from the negative judgment of God’s just Law. (Romans 8:32).

Jesus, who shares God’s love for us, voluntarily died on our behalf, personally representing us before God. His unique death satisfied God’s correct judgment against us so that Jesus’ death became our death (Isaiah 53:4-6). By accepting Jesus’ death on our behalf, we therefore pass through the judgment of God into life (John 3:16; Romans 8:1). All our sins have been paid for by Jesus by His death on the cross, so now we are free to live in God’s light as God desires (Romans 6:11). And it is all possible because of God’s love. Isn’t this amazing news?

As it says in the Bible

We all want to know we are loved and forgiven, and the best news is...WE ARE...by God, because of JESUS.  To know and believe is freedom from the burden of guilt of sin. (1 John 4:9-10 Contemporary English Version)

Is God calling you today to know His freedom and His love through Jesus?

Now, just as important as Jesus’ death, is the historical fact that Jesus rose from the dead. He did this three days after dying for our sins (Acts 10:40). This was possible because Jesus Himself was innocent in God’s eyes. He had died for other people’s sins and not for His own, and so death had no right to hold him (2 Corinthians 5:21; Acts 2:24). Therefore God raised Him from the grave to enjoy eternal life. He now sits next to God His Father in heaven in the highest place of honour (Mark 16:10).

He is waiting there, praying for us, until the right time arrives to come back to earth to fully establish His Kingdom and to bring us into His presence forever (Romans 8:34; Acts 3:21). This is our steadfast hope. We know it will happen in God’s good time. God’s Word and promises cannot fail (Romans 5:5; Isaiah 55:11).

As you read this, is Jesus calling you to know Him right now?

Jesus says to you

“If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest.  This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light.”

(Matthew 11:28-30 Contemporary English Version)

Jesus is the one and only way to know God personally (John 14:6). Don’t miss this opportunity to find His forgiveness.

When you ask Jesus to forgive you your sins and to bring you out of darkness, God sends His own Spirit, the Holy Spirit, into your heart (Galatians 4:6). The Holy Spirit is gentle and kind (Galatians 5:22-23). He speaks to your conscience and encourages you to live in a way that pleases God (1 Thessalonians 4:1-8). In this way God is always with us and comforts us (2 Corinthians 1:4).

Now, if you believe that God is calling you today to know more about the love and forgiveness that only Jesus gives, please pray the following prayer:

Father God,
In my heart I believe that You love me and want to rescue me from my sins and darkness. I am sorry for all the wrong things I have thought, said or done that are against Your law and I want to change. I am tired of carrying my burdens and I believe you are calling me to follow You, with all my heart, mind and soul.
I understand that You sent Your only Son Jesus Christ to die for my sins. After Jesus did this for me You raised Him from the dead. Believing this in my heart, I now ask that You forgive me all my sins and send Your Holy Spirit to live in my heart. I want to live in a way that pleases You. I want to live in the light. Help me by Your Spirit to obey You.
Thank you Father God for hearing me. I ask this in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ who saves me, Amen.
